About New Peace Counselling

Brian Malone BSc (Hons) Open, Dip. Couns. MACC (Accred), Dip. S. Studies

My first experience of counselling was as a client in 1999 after a traumatic and distressing time in my life. At the time I was cynical about the relevance and usefulness of counselling but soon discovered how much it could help. It was a time of self-discovery that started me on a journey of self-development that I would not have thought possible.

The personal changes during that time led me to discover my passion for wanting to help people who have doubts about themselves or are experiencing difficult times and situations in their in lives.

In 2004 I began my training as a counsellor and finally completed my Level 4 Diploma in Counselling in 2009 closely followed by an Open University Degree involving studies in Social Care, Psychology and Social policy.

Since 2009 I have attended many additional counselling training courses to further develop my skills and knowledge as well as attending monthly supervision sessions to ensure that I practice my counselling in an ethical and proficient manner.

From 2009 to 2016 I worked as a volunteer counsellor and centre manager for a local counselling organisation. During that time I have worked with many individuals, couples and families facing a wide variety of personal issues and have counselled pupils (mainly adolescents) in a number of schools. In 2016 I felt that I needed a new challenge in life so decided to set up New Peace Counselling.

I am a committed Christian who works with all people regardless of faith. I do not bring my Christian view points into the counselling room unless requested. However my Christian principles define the way I work with my clients and in that way the client will experience my Christian nature, will not be judged and will know respect, patience, kindness, compassion, gentleness and understanding of their situations and emotions.

Why ‘New Peace’?

My Promise To All Clients Is To:-

Never give up on them and work with them for as long as they need my counselling support. There will however be times when my skills and knowledge are not enough and more specialist help is required. In these situations I will help the client to find the help that they need.

Encourage them to grow in self-awareness and gain the confidence to enable them make the decisions and changes that they need to make to improve their life.

Work to the best of my ability at all times to help them find the:-

Peace that they have lost or may never have known and a hope for a better future.
